Disappointed

As predicted, everyone was in such a good mood at work because of the Packers win. Sorry Bears fans. :(

Breakfast was Stonyfield plain yogurt, a bit of almond milk, fresh blueberries and Jessica’s Vanilla Maple natural gluten free granola. I am sad that bag is almost finished, but I’ll move onto one of the other two flavors soon and let you know how it is!

Between meetings, I was ready for a snack! I had a mini cinnamon raisin bagel with some cream cheese and a hot chocolate.

I have been feeling a little weird taking pictures of my lunches at my work. My co-workers don’t know about my blog and it would seem odd if one of them walked in to see me taking a picture of my food. So, I took a picture at home this morning and will probably do that from now on. Now most of my pictures will have that lovely yellow glow to them. Wish I could magically fix that! I can’t wait for winter to be over with and the sun to be shining when I wake up and when I get home from work.

Lunch was pasta with fettuccine sauce, a Musselman’s Granny Smith applesauce that tasted so yummy, a Vanilla Bean Dessert Activia & a lot of carrots. Seriously, I think that applesauce is the best I have ever had in my life. The Activia was just ok. I think I got it for free with double coupons, so I figured it was worth a try.

I snacked on some Newman’s Own Organics mini pretzels later in the day and then I left work a little early to head to Bodyblast Boot Camp.

Sadly, I think that was my last boot camp class at the Y. I was really disappointed in the teacher tonight. He was a total chatterbox and we all didn’t feel like we got a great workout in. In fact, after class, I went to the weight and cardio machine room to find so many familiar faces from the boot camp class I had just finished. One of the girls was on the elliptical and I chatted to her a bit. She looked over at me and said, “you feel like you need to work out more too because you didn’t get a good workout from class?” I told her yes and we talked about our disappointment. She said she’ll give him another shot, but I said I am not too sure I will. The class is called boot camp for crying out loud! Make us work hard! Sorry, I needed to vent. I think I am better off doing my own thing with weights and cardio on Mondays. After class, my friend Angie and I looked at the class selection for Mondays and nothing else really grabbed my attention. I wish we had a new teacher. The previous one left to go back to school and I attended her class once, but she was excellent.

Have you ever tried a boot camp class? Did you feel like you got a great workout from it?

When I got back from the gym, I had a Morningstar Black Bean burger with swiss cheese and a salad.

I’m looking forward to going to yoga tomorrow night. I used to declare Tuesdays my rest days, but now I think I will go to yoga when I can.

Off to read under a cozy blanket. The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet’s Nest is getting really good and I need to read about 250 more pages and finish before it’s due back to the library in a week!

Hope your Monday was fantastic!

Improving my sleep habits

I realize I haven’t been getting enough sleep during the work week. On the weekends, I sleep in until about 7 or 8 and go to bed around 10:45. That amount of sleep feels perfect. At work today, I wanted to eat sweets and was always hungry. To me, those two elements signal that I am not getting what I need in sleep. I currently go to bed around 10:30 and get up at 5:50, which doesn’t leave me with quite the rest my body needs. My goal for tonight is to try to get to bed by 9:30 or 9:45. Don’t know if that will happen Tuesday through Thursday nights of this week, as I am babysitting my nephews and working Wednesday/Thursday until 9 p.m. At least I will be able to sleep in on Wed/Thurs. Do you crave sweets when you are tired?

My breakfast included one of the new cereals I picked up at the grocery store on Saturday. Kellog’s Fiber Plus Antioxidants Berry Yogurt crunch cereal with fresh blueberries.

It was ok. Didn’t have a ton of flavor, even with yogurt pieces thrown in.

Lunch was leftover Baked Stuffed Shells, a peach Chobani with canned peaches on top, & a string cheese.

As I mentioned, I was craving sweets today and for some reason, that lunch didn’t fill me up completely. After a meeting, I went to buy some peanut butter cookies out of the vending machine. I think I have only bought cookies of out the work vending machine one other time. Not bad for almost three years at my job!

After work, I picked up the third and final Stieg Larsson book from the library, The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet’s Nest. Maybe I will read two books in January and start my New Year’s goal off on the right foot. As for the other Larsson books–I plowed through the first one, went a bit more slowly through the second and who knows how fast I will read this third and final book by Larsson. He is an excellent writer and I wish he was still around to share more intriguing stories with the world.

Can’t wait to log off of the computer, bake some chocolate chip cookies (so I don’t have to buy any from the vending machine) and dig into this book tonight! Besides Friday, it is truly my only relaxing night this week, so I am going to enjoy it.

Since it was snowing out before and when I left work, the drive home was slow going and I didn’t make it to Boot Camp in time. I just headed to the YMCA on my own and did 25 minutes on the recumbent bike while watching the HGTV dream home special–love watching all of the beautiful touches they add to those houses! I also did 10 minutes on the stair stepper, which I must say is a good workout because I was sweating after those 10 minutes! I also lifted some free weights for my arms.

I already knew what I wanted for dinner when I got home from the gym. My co-worker had some buffalo wings for lunch today and the smell made me want some myself. I had the third and final gardein product in my freezer to try out–meatless buffalo wings. I paired them with a side of baby carrots, broccoli and pepper jack cheese.

They were pretty good! Nice and spicy. I added a little Frank’s Red Hot too, because I’m obsessed like that.

I blogged early tonight and it’s time to read a few blogs, log off, bake and read! Good night! Don’t know if I’ll be able to blog at all tomorrow, but if not, I’ll catch up on Wednesday morning before heading to work.

Lisa Pizza

I am turning into a pizza, hence my title of Lisa Pizza, which is also what my brother used to call me (besides mona Lisa). I have had pizza the last three days. Is that weird? At least I have had small quantities. Blame it on the free food, which occurred on Saturday night and tonight.

I also am slightly addicted to plain greek Oikos yogurt with sliced almonds and honey. No variety in my diet lately!

Breakfast today was Banana Nut Cheerios and coffee.

Snack was almond poppyseed bread and stollen with another coffee. I think winter is causing me to crave carbs.

Lunch was what else, leftover pizza from yesterday. The rest had a very orange theme and I didn’t realize it until I laid out my lunch for my photo: baby carrots, peach Chobani yogurt and clementines.

I couldn’t resist having this adorable snowman cookie for an afternoon snack. I went to a meeting at work and they had different holiday cookies out, so I grabbed Mr. Snowman.

I knew I would need a little snack before boot camp class later in the day.

My friend Angie and I tried a new Boot Camp class tonight. We met through Boot Camp class with the recreation department. I think we took about 4 consecutive boot camps together until we called it quits with the rec dept. classes last Monday. Since I belong to the YMCA and she will soon, we tried out the Bodyblast Boot Camp this evening. It was a great class and very similar to what we did in our other boot camp, except that we ran for 10 minutes straight, which I liked a lot. I missed running. I haven’t done it much since I sprained my right ankle this fall. The teacher was nice and also a former Blugold (my alma mater is the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire and they have this weird, fake mascot, the Blugold). I’ll definitely go back to the Y boot camp. Too bad the nice teacher is leaving though and there will be a new one. I am sure he’ll be fine.

Post boot camp snack was a banana and NuttZo for protein.

Dinner was dare I say it, pizza. My husband got it free from work. Seriously, this is why I blog because I notice these strange eating habits of mine. When I was a kid, I did this with yogurt and other foods. My parents would always say, “aren’t you sick of that?!” but I would tell them when I got sick of a certain food.

I am not feeling so great tonight. I hope I am not coming down with a cold before the holidays. I keep getting the chills, have a headache and was coughing most of the day. Time to lay down on the couch under a blanket and rest.
