Healthy Surprise Review and Giveaway

I’ve got a great giveaway for you today! It’s from Healthy Surprise.

One lucky winner will get this in the mail! There are lots of great gluten free, natural and vegan products to try out.

I was sent a similar box with lots of goodies. Craig and I ripped this bag open right away and he was addicted to the dried apple chips. The winner gets to try some dried cherries, yum!

I also liked this new to me product.

There are lots of options for subscriptions. I am honestly not sure I would be willing to pay that much per month (they start at $33), but if you were looking for something convenient that would help you make sure you always had healthy snacks on hand, maybe it would be worth it.

They also have gift options.

Thank you to Healthy Surprise for letting me try out a box of my own and for giving one away!

-Leave me a comment with your favorite healthy snack.

OXO Salad Dressing Shaker review and {GIVEAWAY}

I am excited to share this review and giveaway with you today!

As part of the OXO blogger outreach program, I received a salad dressing shaker for free to try out for myself and one to giveaway.

OXO Good Grips salad dressing shakers

Here are some of the features:

OXO Good Grips salad dressing top

Description from the OXO website:
Making a quick dressing is a cinch with the OXO Good Grips Salad Dressing Shaker. The watertight Shaker offers a clean, neat and convenient way to mix, serve and store dressings, sauces and marinades. The top unscrews to reveal a wide opening ideal for adding a range of ingredients like oil, vinegar, mayonnaise, mustard, garlic, onions and spices. The Shaker is made of a BPA-free, break-resistant and dishwasher safe material. Once ingredients are added, screw the top on and shake to quickly mix dressings with no spills. The top lever flips back for pouring and forward to seal. Use the airtight Shaker to store leftover dressing and sauce right inside the fridge.

I made a salad for lunch today and tried out the product! I used a Penzey’s Italian salad dressing base.

Mixing it all up!

The top opens up so you can pour out your dressing and it closes for easy storage in the fridge.

I am so happy I received one of these to try out and keep! It is something I see myself using quite often because I tend to make my own dressings vs. buying them.

Duncan Hines coupons giveaway and Crinkle Cookies

Ever since I saw Southern Charm’s recipe for crinkle cookies, I knew I’d have to copy her and make them myself!

So, I used one of the coupons for a free Duncan Hines product that I received from the Foodbuzz Tastemaker program to get a box of the Triple Chocolate decadent cake mix.

20111127-152717.jpg

The cookies were easy to make using her recipe and they turned out well. They don’t look quite the same as hers, but they sure taste yummy. Craig said they’re like little brownies. He has a good point–they’re meant to be chewy and soft like a brownie.

B.I.C. bands giveaway ends today!

Have you entered my B.I.C. bands giveaway yet? I’ll pick a winner tonight! I may not post the winner until 9 p.m. CST because I am getting my hair cut and highlighted after work.

For breakfast this morning, I had the Double Coconut Granola I made last night and it was delicious!

Currently, I am taking a morning break at work to enjoy an iced coffee and a pink lady apple.

pics 6-9-11 011

Lunch today is going to be a Pomegranate Chobani yogurt and a pb & j sandwich.

Well, my break is almost up, so I am signing off. Have a good Wednesday! Be back later tonight with the winner.

Mopping sucks

Thanks for all of your entries into the B.I.C. bands giveaway! There is still time to enter. I’ll post the winner on Wednesday evening.

I had a very relaxing weekend, like I needed after a week of being sick with colitis problems. Here is a collage of my food over the last two days and I of course ate a lot of food that is unpictured like chobani, string cheese, & pita chips.

I also made Paige’s mug cookie, but I made it in a bowl.

cookie in a bowl

It didn’t turn out as well as I had hoped it would, but it tasted great. I just couldn’t eat it all because it was so sweet!

This morning, I had a big mug of coffee while watching CBS Sunday Morning. The story in the background was on shape up type shoes like Sketchers Shape Ups, MBT, Puma, and Reebook. The final conclusion is that those types of shoes don’t really engage muscles like the shoe companies claim they do. (Sorry Angie)!

coffee and CBS Sunday Morning

I was pretty lazy today overall because I needed to relax and still recuperate from feeling sick all week.

But, I was productive with laundry and the worst task of all: mopping. You see, we’re going away this weekend and I don’t want to leave a sloppy house for my in-laws while they come and check on the cats. I guess the worst part of mopping is clearing the items from the kitchen and bathroom before getting to the task itself.

mopping

It’s really nice to have a clean kitchen though!

I did make it to the gym tonight. I followed Jillian’s advice from her podcast and didn’t stretch before my workout. Instead, I warmed up on the BOSU before lifting a full circuit of weights. I also walked and ran the track for 10 minutes. I didn’t need to do a lot of cardio because Craig and I walked almost two miles in the humidity this morning.

And now, I am finishing watching the movie Conviction. It’s pretty good–not one of those movies I was super excited to see, but an intriguing story overall.

Time to sign off and get ready for bed! Hooray for a four day week for me. :)

Stonyfield Yogurt Coupons Giveaway Winner

The random.org number generator picked 2, so commenter #2, Jenn, you won! Please send me your address at fitinthemidwest@gmail.com so I can send you your coupons!

IMG_2500

Jenn | November 29, 2010 at 2:48 pm | Reply | Edit I eat plain all natural Dannon yogurt, no flavor whatsoever, therefore no sugar or possibility of high fructose corn syrup. I buy the big containers and fill my own smaller containers that I wash, therefore, hopefully adding less waste to my footprint. I prefer to add my own homemade jam to it for flavor, and/or granola. I have never tried Greek yogurt, but have wondered about it. I find I really need to eat yogurt every day for my health. I am adding a link tomorrow on my random Tuesday posting. Check it out tomorrow.

Thanks to everyone for entering!

Back to my routine

You have the whole week to enter my Stonyfield yogurt giveaway, but come on readers, enter now!

After I post this, I am going to search the internet for some Cyber Monday deals. I am not looking for anything in particular for Christmas presents or myself, except prescription swim goggles and there aren’t any deals with those. I just hoped that there were a few excellent deals that would be too good to pass up. Anyone find anything exciting online?

Back to work this morning. In a way, it feels good to be back to a routine. I loved my days off, but a routine is also good too.

I had Total Cranberry cereal with pomegranate arils for breakfast and a big glass of coffee.
