5 foods that improve your looks

On my way into work this morning, I heard a local radio station talking about 5 foods that improve your looks. I knew I had to share the list with you blog readers. I eat spinach, eggs and bananas pretty regularly, but don’t eat beets and guava too often.

1. Spinach. It contains carotenoids, which make the whites of your eyes whiter.
2. Eggs. They’re high in iron, which helps prevent hair loss.
3. Bananas. Smoking and getting too much sun are two of the worst things you can do for your skin, because both of them make your skin less elastic . . . which makes you look older than you are. But the potassium in bananas does the opposite. And having enough of it in your diet can do more for your skin than a lot of lotions and anti-aging products.
4. Beets. Beetroot contains something called betaine (BEE-tah-een), which helps your body break down fat. So eating beets can improve your looks by helping you lose weight.
5. Guava. They’re high in antioxidants, which counteract the free radicals in your body that cause skin damage. And they also have five times more vitamin C than an orange, which helps your body create collagen.

  1. I can eat everything on that list but beets. They taste like dirty feet!

  2. Best recipe ever–roasted beets with feta cheese: http://allrecipes.com//Recipe/roasted-beets-with-feta/Detail.aspx

We could eat this every day. I needed something to make with the beets I got in my CSA box and this hits the spot! We skip the parsley, but the shallots really make the dish. You could do green onions instead of shallots if you need to.
