Hello and thanks for viewing my page! I’m Lisa and I started this blog on my 30th birthday, August 31, 2010, with hopes of connecting to the healthy living blogging community on a new level. I have been enjoying reading healthy living blogs for almost a year now and feel that they have helped me approach nutrition and fitness in a new way. I want to bring that same passion to others through my blog.

A little about me…I have been married to my wonderful husband Craig for two years and we have two cat children.

Smooching as husband and wife

I enjoy walking/hiking, running, biking, yoga, Body Pump, Boot Camp, going to the gym and playing tennis.

I love to travel, especially to Europe. My husband and I went to Germany, the Netherlands and the Czech Republic for our honeymoon in 2009.

I'm a little obsessed with Milka chocolate!

Berlin, Germany

At Neuschwanstein Castle

I lived in Lugano, Switzerland for 6 months in 2005-2006 and enjoyed trying new foods there, especially Birchermuesli and Swiss chocolate! πŸ˜‰ I enjoyed traveling a lot on my own and with friends–I went to Germany, all over Italy, to lots of small and big Swiss cities, Paris, and London. Here are some of the photographs from those travels. Most of my fitness back then consisted of lots of walking in cities and walking to school and back to my apartment every day. I also played soccer or futbol in a coed game during the week.

In Basel, Switzerland

Typical German meal in Berlin (German Potato Salad tasted like my mom's, yummy!)

And finally, since this is a healthy living blog, here is my disclaimer.

I’m not a registered dietitian (but this is my dream job), a doctor, or a fitness expert. The purpose of my blog is to share my experiences with food, fitness, and lifeβ€”not to dole out advice. When it comes to your health and fitness, do your research or ask your doctor.

  1. Thanks so much for replying about Starbucks! Sounds like we aren’t too far from each other! Gotta love the Midwest πŸ™‚

    • You’re welcome! Enjoy your b-day Starbucks drink!

Yes, love the good ol’ Midwest. Hope you enjoyed Milwaukee for Farm Aid.

Take care and good luck with your blog! I’ll keep reading.

  2. Fantastic travel photos! Cant wait to read more!

  3. Cool! I too am addicted to health, nutrition and fitness. I read a LOT, and have recently started reading blogs about nutrition, too. I get a lot of great recipes from fellow health-conscious bloggers!

Looking forward to reading what you discover along your wellness path.

And yay – tennis! I play 4 days a week, and organize adult recreational leagues in my area. πŸ˜‰

  4. I just came across your blog through Food Buzz and was surprised at how much we have in common. Living in the same area, close in age, lived in Europe, love traveling in Europe and my husband and I also have 2 cat children πŸ™‚

    • Hi Karis, I checked out your blog today and you are right, we have so much in common! So cool, especially that you are close by! My friend goes to the MF YMCA. I just joined the YMCA two months ago and I love it.

I’ll add you to my blogroll and keep following your CSA adventures. I really want to try a CSA sometime, but need my husband to eat more vegetables and whole foods in general.

Thanks for stopping by and we’ll be in touch!

  5. In the midwest, where at? I live in the Midwest too! Hoping for warm weather real soon!
That wooden path in your wedding photos is very cool and so are you two!
    Your honeymoon overseas looked amazing!

    • I live in Milwaukee, where are you from? I can’t wait for the warm weather too! I miss being outside so badly.

Thanks for your sweet comments. The wooden path was at Boerner Botanical Gardens.

We loved our honeymoon in Europe. We saw so many cities together and had a great time!

  6. I love bircher muesli!! I have a recipe for it on the blog. My favorite breakfast ever!

  8. Hello from Madison, fellow Wisconsinite! Just stumbled upon your blog via IGE. πŸ™‚

  9. Hi! My name is Sue, and I’m from SlimKicker, a fitness/diet app and website. I saw your blog today and it captured my interest!

I’m contacting you b/c we’re about to release a fitness tracker (similar to FitBit) early next year, and are looking for bloggers who would be interested in getting 1 for free to review when it is out (negative or positive).

Would you be interested in doing this? You can email me at: sue (at) slimkicker (com) with ‘Review’ in the email heading if you are.

For your info, our website SlimKicker basically turns your fitness/diet goals into a fun level-up game. The tracker will work in conjunction the website, and allow people to track calories burned and number of steps they walk automatically. The more they exercise, the more points they rack up! That’s basically how it will work.

Anyway, hope to hear back either way…

    – Sue
