Energetic Friday

It’s amazing what a good night of sleep can do for you! I probably got about 10 hours of sleep and my body didn’t hurt when I woke up for the first time all week. I felt achy and stressed all week with lots going on at work.

Anyway, I purposely got that much sleep because I have to stay up until midnight this evening for work.

I started my morning with Chobani strawberry yogurt topped with strawberries and blueberries.

While at Target last week, I picked up the Starbucks caramel flavored coffee. It is really good! I honestly have a love/hate relationship with flavored coffee and this flavor impressed me. It reminds me most of a caramel frappucino (without all of the calories associated with said drink). Caramel frappucinos used to be my go to drink at Starbucks, so anything that is similar to it without the fat and calories is ok by me.

After watching the morning shows for a bit including a story on how a proper night of sleep at 8 hours plus helped a bunch of women lose weight (how timely), I finally got ready for the gym.

I was in a really cheery and energetic mood this morning, so I went with my new yellow Danskin Active top and my sassy sweaty bands headband. I even dared to take the picture below without makeup on. 20 something year old me would have never done that, but now that I am nearly 31, I don’t care what people think of my makeup less face anymore.

At the gym, I was in an even better mood when I found that someone left behind an old issue of Whole Living magazine, which is becoming one of my favs. I read that while biking for 18 minutes, I lifted a full circuit of weights, did some free weights, abs and the elliptical for 16 minutes. I love great workouts like the one I had today.

I’m cooking up some tofu topped with Penzey’s mural of flavor spice (which is my favorite of Penzey’s spices), so I better run and check to make sure my tofu doesn’t burn. I want to bring a healthy dinner to work so I feel good for my event tonight. That should ensure I stay in a good mood as well. 🙂

Hope you have a wonderful Friday and a great start to your weekend!

Fridays make me happy

Recap of my Friday…

Breakfast was Cheerios and coffee. I dreamt about having bags underneath my eyes and boy did I have them today.

So, I headed over to Starbucks for a little Friday treat of a non-fat grande latte. I had half of a cherry pie larabar as a snack.

Lunch was another wrap-this time with ham instead of turkey so I won’t have heavy eyelids after lunch. I also enjoyed lots of red and green grapes plus it was my first time trying Stonyfield’s cherry flavored Greek yogurt.

The verdict? Pretty darn good!

I came home from work early, did some loads of laundry, cleaned a bit, meditated and then headed to the gym. I ate the other half of that larabar before going there so I wouldn’t get too hungry, because I went around dinner time.

I did 20 minutes on the Cybex Arc Trainer, biked 10 minutes and lifted a full circuit of weights. Everytime I do the Cybex, I totally think I could keep going for a full hour. Maybe I’ll try that sometime because the machine always says I would burn about 760 calories in an hour. Sweet!

Dinner was at Cici’s pizza. It was a buffet. Not healthy, but something different (and a mere $4.99 per person) and we didn’t feel like cooking. I am not a big buffet person because I overeat and I did do that. I had some salads to get my greens in and tried various types of pizza and a few breadsticks. Dessert was a brownie and a really yummy dessert pizza thing.

Then we just went to Home Depot, walked around and came home to relax.

I heart Fridays

Aaah, Friday, how I love thee. I will also love Wednesday of next week, since it will be a “Friday” before a four day weekend.

We don’t have much on our agenda for the weekend, but I made a fairly big to do list today. I will try to accomplish almost everything!

Breakfast today was Total cereal and coffee. I ate a quick breakfast so I could spend more time making a healthy lunch for Craig and I.

I made us both ham and cheese sandwiches on Arnold’s Thins. Additionally, he had a Yoplait yogurt and I had red grapes, a Stonyfield smoothie and pita chips.

After work, I headed to the YMCA. I logged 32 minutes on the elliptical and lifted some free weights. The machines were so busy tonight that I figured I would rather wait until the weekend when it’s quiet and I don’t have to wait around to do my circuit.

I had a craving for pizza for dinner so we had a frozen one. I made it a little healthier by adding broccoli and red peppers to my half (Craig is grossed out by broccoli, unfortunately). Wow, that was so good! I am going to add both of those veggies every time I eat pizza now!

Of course I had to have dessert. I have been ignoring my pumpkin ice cream all week, so I had a little bowl of that. Maybe I want to save my pumpkin cravings for Thanksgiving.

Speaking of, my mom and dad are hosting turkey day and my mom is not clear about what she wants me to bring. She will make the pumpkin pie and sweet potato casserole. My mother-in-law will bring the green bean casserole, which is what I was going to bring. I planned on finding a healthy version of  it to make. Now that is no longer an option. I want to bring something healthy–any ideas? I guess I will be searching food blogs this weekend to look for something. That or I can just bring wine! Honestly, holidays sort of frustrate me and it shouldn’t be that way. I don’t find them relaxing and I never even have to host any parties!

I’ll stop venting and cross my fingers someone comments with some healthy recipes to share.

Tomorrow morning, I want to get to the 8:45 yoga class, Starbucks to enjoy the buy one get one free holiday drinks and then Craig wants to buy a new toilet at Home Depot. We want one that is more green and uses less water. All I want from Home Depot is a spice rack to mount on our pantry door! Love the differences between male and female priorities in a household. My co-worker and I were discussing that this morning. I want to decorate and organize, Craig wants to make the house green and improve manly things.

Have a lovely weekend!
