The home stretch

I’m in the home stretch now with my work program occurring over the next two days. After seven plus months of planning, it feels good to be concluding this event. Even today’s workload was a bit lighter as a result, which feels wonderful.

Still, I am looking forward to kicking back on Saturday night, with a hard cider in my hand, watching a movie (I get DVDs from the library and the ones I had on hold all seem to be coming in right now) and just relaxing. The movies we are getting to watch this weekend include the final Stieg Larsson movie, The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet’s Nest, and the Oscar nominated Winter’s Bone. I have to wait on getting two others until next week so we don’t get “movied out.”

Breakfast was Stonyfield vanilla yogurt topped with strawberries and chia seeds, again. Seems like I like this combination since I’ve had it a couple of times this week!

Snack mid-morning was hot chocolate and a trail mix bar.

I ate lunch at the library while listening to a story by Alice Hoffman. My co-worker joined me this time and it was nice to hang out with her over our break. I laughed because about two months ago, I had convinced this particular co-worker and some others to try greek yogurt after I raved about it before we started a meeting. She is now hooked on it and has gotten her boyfriend and mom to love it. Her mom is a big Chobani fan like me. Wow, it’s kind of weird because she said that I influenced all three of them by just convincing her to try it. It’s a really nice feeling.

Lunch was a veggie sandwich with greek olive hummus, cucumbers, red peppers and a slice of pepper jack cheese. I also had a red delicious apple and an Activia peach cobbler dessert yogurt. I brought along a chocolate chip cookie for dessert.

Dinner was a leftover slice of pizza I had forgotten about and some brussell sprouts topped with Arizona Dreaming spice from Penzey’s and a bit of sea salt.

Dessert was a strawberry banana Chobani.

I let dinner settle in my tummy and then went to yoga. Shoveling the really heavy snow last night sure made a difference in how sore my back was today during yoga. It felt good to stretch!

I have to get to bed early tonight, so have a good one!

My first oats in a jar

Anyone else ready for a mini Christmas vacation? I am ready for our vacation in Florida, but I have to wait another month and a half for that. Gee, we better get our flights, rental car and hotel booked soon! Anyone have any recommendations of where to eat and stay in the Orlando area?

My breakfast consisted of the blog world’s famous “oats in a jar.” I don’t know who started it, but they are a genius. I took a container of NuttZo that only had about an inch left of nut butter left and put stovetop oats into it. I also added some honey and greek yogurt to sweeten and add protein. No dishes to wash, just a container to recycle. This would be perfect to take to work, as long as you don’t mind a cooler bowl of oats. Obviously, I would highly recommend trying the oats in a jar idea.

Lunch was leftover Qdoba (veggies burrito), the last Oikos caramel yogurt, clementines and some chocolate–a Kinder Bueno to be specific. I am surrounded by chocolate at the office. Not just any chocolate, but German chocolate! My former co-worker (who is German and now lives there again) sent our office a nice package of treats to munch on before the holidays–thank god for her. Alas, I resisted the chocolate until lunch today. I also couldn’t resist the temptation of Haribo Frogs. For some reason, they seem to be softer from Germany.

I particpated in my third Zumba class tonight. It was challenging in the middle of the class. There were new dance moves and songs and I couldn’t catch onto the moves. I laughed with another girl in front of me and admitted out loud that I was lost. After class, I lifted weights for my legs. I haven’t been in the workout room in a while to go on machines or the weights. It’s been all classes lately and I miss the workout room.

Dinner was an Arnold Thin with sweet peppers, brie, chipolte mayo and oregano. It tasted yummy! I also had some carrots on the side and a Fig Newman. Like many of the Newman’s Own Organics products, these tasted like Fig Newtons, only less sweet.

I have more energy tonight and will not fall asleep on the couch!

Time to use that energy to wash dishes and pick up around the house. Night!

After I post this, I am going to search the internet for some Cyber Monday deals. I am not looking for anything in particular for Christmas presents or myself, except prescription swim goggles and there aren’t any deals with those. I just hoped that there were a few excellent deals that would be too good to pass up. Anyone find anything exciting online?

Back to work this morning. In a way, it feels good to be back to a routine. I loved my days off, but a routine is also good too.

I had Total Cranberry cereal with pomegranate arils for breakfast and a big glass of coffee.
